Stand up for Religious Freedom Rally

The Catholic Bishops of the United States remain adamant and united in their refusal to accept Pres. Obama’s stance that hospitals, colleges, schools, and other charitable entities run by religious organizations provide “free” contraceptives, sterilizations and abortion-inducing drugs in their health insurance coverage.

Bishop Timothy Doherty of Lafayette, Indiana, exclaimed, “We cannot — we will not — comply with this unjust law. People of faith cannot be made second-class citizens. We are already joined by our brothers and sisters of all faiths and many others of good will in this important effort to regain our religious freedom.”

The mandate by HHS is an attack on the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.  The first of the amendments in the Bill of Rights states, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
