Unborn and Their Mothers True Winners in Indiana Races

Ninety-one percent of Indiana Right to Life PAC-endorsed Candidates Won

INDIANAPOLIS – Polling results show that the Indiana election results delivered a big win for unborn babies and their mothers. Indiana Right to Life Political Action Committee’s (PAC) analysis shows:

  • 100 percent of PAC-endorsed statewide candidates won (3 of 3). Three pro-life women, Connie Lawson, Secretary of State; Suzanne Crouch, Auditor; and Kelly Mitchell, Treasurer, will all hold statewide office.
  • 88 percent of PAC-endorsed U.S. House of Representatives candidates won. Incumbent Reps. Jackie Walorski (IN-2), Marlin Stutzman (IN-3), Todd Rokita (IN-4), Susan Brooks (IN-5), Luke Messer (IN-6), Larry Bucshon (IN-8) and Todd Young (IN-9) will all return to Washington, D.C.
  • 100 percent of PAC-endorsed Indiana State Senate candidates won (20 of 20). The Senate will have eight pro-life freshmen, including two pro-life women, Senators-Elect Liz Brown (District 15) and Erin Houchin (District 47).
  • 88 percent of PAC-endorsed Indiana State House candidates won (54 of 61). Three pro-abortion women, all incumbents, lost their seats in the House. All three seats were picked up by PAC-endorsed candidates, including Representative-elect Julie Olthoff (District 19), the newest pro-life woman in the House.

Overall, 91 percent of PAC-endorsed candidates won their races. Only one endorsed incumbent lost, Indiana House Rep. L. Jack Lutz (District 35). A pro-life PAC-endorsed officeholder, with the exception of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, now holds every Indiana statewide office.

“We’re thrilled with the election results,” stated Mike Fichter, Chairman of the Indiana Right to Life PAC. “We believe the real winners are the unborn babies and their mothers in Indiana and across the nation. These pro-life officials will be able to strongly articulate and advance pro-life measures that inform women about their options and promote positive alternatives to abortion.”

Indiana Right to Life PAC works to elect pro-life candidates to public office for the purpose of enacting public policy that protects the right to life of all persons, including the unborn. Indiana Right to Life PAC believes that the issue of life is paramount to all other issues because without the right to life, all other freedoms are without meaning.
