Indiana Republican Representatives Vote to Protect Pain-Capable Babies from Abortion

June 18, 2013

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to protect babies capable of feeling pain from abortion. All seven Indiana Republican representatives cosponsored and voted in support of the legislation.

“We applaud Reps. Susan Brooks (IN-5), Larry Buschon (IN-8), Luke Messer (IN-6), Todd Rokita (IN-4), Marlin Stutzman (IN-3), Jackie Walorski (IN-2) and Todd Young (IN-9) for protecting innocent human life from a horrific abortion procedure when they are capable of feeling pain,” stated Becky Rogness, Communications Director for Indiana Right to Life. “These unborn babies should not suffer by the abortionist’s hand when they will feel the procedure. The passage of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is a positive step forward in valuing our country’s unborn children and will help prevent future atrocities like the kind uncovered in the Kermit Gosnell ‘House of Horrors.'”

The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act will prohibit abortions nationwide after 20 weeks gestation. The bill passed by a vote of 228-196.

Indiana Right to Life’s mission is to protect the right to life, especially of unborn children, through positive education, compassionate advocacy and promotion of healthy alternatives to abortion.

Throwing in the towel

June 11, 2013

morning after pillIt’s official – the Obama administration has thrown in the towel on its half-hearted effort to keep age restrictions on the over-the-counter sale of so-called “emergency contraceptives.”  The unsurprising capitulation now paves the way for what the Food and Drug Administration promises will be swift approval for making the drug openly and readily available to girls of any age.

Welcome to the latest lowlight in this culture’s mad rush into the abyss.

Welcome to an America where pills that can kill a new life after fertilization may now be stocked next to chewable vitamins and superhero bandages.

Welcome to an America where we have so cheapened the value of human life that we make early abortion pills as available to 10 year-olds as a pack of gum.

Welcome to an America where we seem to not care what the potential long-term health consequences might be for girls who grow up using and abusing emergency contraceptives.

Welcome to an America where parents will have no knowledge that their children are buying and using an over-the-counter drug in false expectations that it makes sex  ”safe.”

Welcome to an America where one teen’s right to buy pills to cause an early abortion is unrestricted while another teen has his microphone cut off during a graduation speech for deviating from the government-approved script .

Welcome to an America that has lost its moral compass.

Welcome to an America where even the wildest dreams of social progressives are coming true.

America has found Pandora’s Box and has gleefully ripped off its lid.  That is to our shame.  Let’s just hope that we will one day remember where we placed that lid, just in case we find our way back to sanity.

Planned Parenthood Merger Will Likely Increase Abortion Rate in Kentucky

June 10, 2013

INDIANAPOLIS – Today, Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Planned Parenthood of Kentucky announced they are merging into one organization on July 1, 2013. Indiana Right to Life President and CEO Mike Fichter released the following statement:

“Planned Parenthood of Kentucky currently does not do surgical or chemical abortions, despite Kentucky’s abortion laws being weaker than Indiana’s. This merger will likely result in Planned Parenthood expanding its abortion business south of the Ohio River and driving the abortion rate higher in Kentucky while avoiding Indiana’s abortion laws. We will continue to work with the many organizations offering positive alternatives to abortion so that all women, regardless of where they reside, know they have another option besides ending their unborn child’s life.”

Indiana Right to Life’s mission is to protect the right to life, especially of unborn children, through positive education, compassionate advocacy and promotion of healthy alternatives to abortion.
