Indiana must act to block vending machine abortions

May 26, 2010

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, news come from Iowa that Planed Parenthood is now offering what many are calling “vending machine” abortions in which abortionists instruct women on using the dangerous RU-486 abortion drug by video conference.

According to news reports, the remote abortionist addresses women by video, then a button is pushed and a drawer opens that contains the drugs.

Not surprisingly, the state of Iowa has launched an investigation to determine the legality and safety of the entire vending machine abortion process.

Indiana needs to get ahead of the curve of this one. According to reports, Planned Parenthood has incorporated within its 2015 strategic plan a desire to make vending machine abortions available at every Planned Parenthood office in the nation. If so, Indiana is on the firing line.

Are we really prepared as a society to plunge into death by remote control? Women and babies deserve a lot better than that.

NARAL gives Indiana an “F” grade

May 18, 2010

The National Abortion Rights Action League has officially given Indiana a grade of F for abortion friendliness.  According to its report “The Status of Reproductive Rights in the United States”, NARAL based its failing report on:

Indiana’s ban on partial-birth abortion
Indiana’s informed consent laws
Indiana’s parental consent law
Indiana’s conscience protection for health care workers
Indiana’s pro-life Governor and pro-life Senate

This is one instance in which every Hoosier can be proud to have an F on a report card!

New book: I Will Carry You

May 18, 2010

Angie Smith and her husband Todd [lead singer of the Christian group Selah] are the authors of a powerful new book titled “I Will Carry You” that chronicles God’s faithfulness in their lives after losing a daughter just three hours after birth.   The Smiths knew that serious developmental issues would prevent their daughter Audrey from surviving for long outside of the womb, but they rejected physician recommendations to have an abortion to end her life.

The central message of the book?  Whether in losing a baby or adopting a child that has special needs, Jesus is always there to carry us through.

I Will Carry You is now available at bookstores everywhere.  You can also listen  to a series of interviews with Todd and Angie Smith on the web site of Haven Today, a daily radio broadcast carried by many stations throughout Indiana.

If you know of parents struggling with the loss of a child or a troubling prenatal diagnosis, this book is highly recommended
