The largest abortion business in Indiana is Planned Parenthood of Indiana (PPI). According to its own statistics, Planned Parenthood of Indiana does over 50% of total abortions in Indiana through its four abortion centers located in Merrillville, Indianapolis, Lafayette and Bloomington. These figures do not take in to account the number of abortions caused by PPI’s distribution of so-called “Emergency Contraception” (EC) which will cause an early abortion if taken after fertilization has occurred.
In 2010, PPI reports 5,580 abortions (see page 9 of annual report).
The state of Indiana reported a total of 10,031 abortions, meaning that PPI did 56% of total Indiana abortions.
In 2010, PPI reports total revenue of $15,670,306 of which $2,008,760 is from government contracts. Revenue of $10,955, 985 is reported from “patient services”, among which are the 5,580 reported chemical and surgical abortions.
In 2010, PPI also reports 13,932 “emergency contraceptive” (EC) usage. EC is known to cause an early abortion if fertilization has occurred, which is why EC is at the center of the HHS mandate controversy that is attempting to force churches, ministries and businesses to cover abortion-causing drugs, i.e. EC, in health plans.
Planned Parenthood supports abortion for any reason, and at any stage of pregnancy, up to and including live birth as in the gruesome “partial-birth” abortion procedure in which all but the head of a fully alive child is delivered through the birth canal, an incision is made into the back of the baby’s neck, and a high-power suction tube is inserted to remove the baby’s skull contents.
In May 2012, LifeNews.com reported that no Planned Parenthood centers operate mammogram machines.
In 2008, PPI made national news when a series of undercover videos filmed by Live Action Films showed PPI counselors advising a women claiming to be 13-years-old and pregnant by an adult man how to avoid sexual abuse reporting.
